    Hi,

Off in a couple of weeks and have nothing booked. Can anyone recommend any good websites/resources for Self-Catering in Ireland? Ideally looking for a house to take a family of 6 (2 adults, 4 children).

Ideally, looking for a house that is walking distance to beach as well as a shop and pub. Also would like some activities in the area. Not particularly pushed on what area it is. I do a bit of hill-walking so mountains nearby would be nice but not essential. Wasn't sure of my holidays so have left it very late to book..

Have a look thru this link. With children I would look for self catering on site on hotel grounds, where the children would be guaranteed a certain amout of entertainment, eg swimming pool, kiddies club etc in case of a rainy day.

I stayed in the Quality hotel Clonakilty Co.Cork at the beginning of July. They also do self catering houses on site which we hoped to get but they were fully booked. This hotel is really well geared towards children and is not too far a drive from beach.
Also check out Trabolgan, another one of my favourites.

    Hi folks,

Found a place in Westport. Just wondering if anyone has been to Westport with children and if you would recommend it?

    Aarrrgh,

Rang this morning to book the home and it was gone.

Back to the drawing board. Only real availability is in Kerry. Been to Killarney a couple of years so want to go somewhere else. Has anyone any experience of Kenmare, Waterville, Sneem or Ballybunion and would you suggest any of them?

I know this is an old thread, but myself my wife and a bunch of friend had a great time at Coolattin Lodge in Wicklow (the garden Ireland!) as it's known. Great place, and lovely hosts, Noel & Dee. www.coolattinlodge.com self catering victorian guesthouses. LOADS of space.
