Trackpad for Mac

    Hi,

I saw a thread about the upcoming OS, and the OP mentioned about reporting back on how the Trackpad is working out. I'm thinking of getting one.....

What's your experience of the trackpad?

It looks like Lion will need the trackpad instead of a mouse to use all the fancy new features, so if you've been using one for a while, what do you think?

    Thanks.

I got one for the exact same reason a few weeks ago. Didn't think I would like it as much as my Magic Mouse, but I've now put the mouse away, and Im using this full time for everything. It does take a bit of getting used to, but it works great.

Exactly the same as the trackpad on the Macbook, only slightly larger (which i find perfect), and as you said, it will be extremely useful for Lion.

Thanks for the reply. How is it for comfort? I guess it doesn't have the flexibility of a mouse (in that you can pick up a mouse and move it a few inches around your desk to give your wrist a different position to work in), so I'm just wondering what it's like for prolonged use?

I have a mac mini, so I'm still using the old pc mouse with it. I have an iPad too, so I'd be keen to use the iPad-ish features in Lion. So I think my old mouse will have to be put away.

Got a trackpad for my iMac a couple of weeks ago. My magic mouse has been gathering dust in a drawer since. Find it so much better/more intuitive than a mouse. Had to use an associates desktop with a mouse today and it just felt "wrong" for lack of a better word. Like trying to write when your hands asleep.
Its hard to explain the difference but trust me i don't know anyone who's bought one then said "What a waste of money" though everyone worries they will before they buy one
    hope that helps

I found it great and comfortable to use for extended periods. Only reason I went back to a mouse was that I wanted to play games regularly and trackpads suck for gaming in general.

Out of curiosity, whats it like for using say on illustrator or photo shop ? even i movie I'm just curious to know what its like to work with as apposed a mouse in that kinda of situation.

That's a good point, I never thought of how it would perform with the likes of PhotoShop.

Anyone with experience care to share how it works?
