was on the sugarloaf yesterday and came across a black nokia among the rocks of the northern slope. still in good condition so maybe not there so long.
has camera on it and may contain photos of sentimental value.

Is there any 'home' in the phonebook or call a few randomers in it who might know the owner

battery has run down, so it is not possible. I will open the back of it for further clues. have also posted this on the Dublin forum as owner is more likely from Greater Dublin area.

remove sim card and switch it on in a spare phone, check numbers or leave it on till someone calls. maybe someone you know has a charger for it?

    He won't know the PIN.

There is a very high chance it won't have a pin

If it does have a pin, and no luck with numbers stored in the phone I say just keep the thing, buy a charger or sell it

Really? Is it uncommon to use a PIN? Anyway, you coud either drop into the Gardai, or into a phone store of the company who issued the SIM. They can identify the owner assuming the phone was registered.

Selling or keeping the handset is probably pointless, as the IMEI will be blocked when the owner reports it missing or lost.

Very few people have them anymore. also reporting a lost phone to have it blocked is illegal at least in England I'm not sure about over here.

People do get replacement SIM cards with the same number though, so if the phone is switched on at this stage the SIM in it might not work because they're after getting a new one

IMEI blacklisting of lost handsets is not illegal in the UK, Needler, nor anywhere else.
