Hi flying with Emirates soon and I know our baggage allowance is 30kgs, just wondering if this would be for one piece of luggage or if you could take two? Also the first part of our journey (all booked together) is with Aer Lingus, just wondering would the 30kgs apply to Aer Lingus also? Thanks :)

Aer Lingus will honour emirate baggage allowance if you booked all in one ticket and normally one piece of luggage per person.

    Quote from Aer Lingus website
    Interline Baggage

Aer Lingus will through-check baggage as a courtesy onto any carrier that have a baggage agreement in place, upon presentation of documentation of the itinerary showing Aer Lingus and partner carrier flights on the same ticket. The baggage allowance for these itineraries will be subject to the allowances listed on your ticket. Please contact your local reservations office for further information if you are unsure of applicable baggage allowances.
    This includes the following airlines:
    • Air China
    • Air France
    • Air New Zealand
    • Alaska Airlines
    • American Airlines
    • British Airways
    • Cathay Pacific
    • China Airlines
    • Delta Airlines
    • Emirates
    • Etihad
    • Finnair
    • Gulf Air
    • Iberia
    • Japan Airlines
    • JetBlue Airways

    • Kenya Airways
    • KLM
    • Malev
    • Malaysian
    • Martin Air
    • Northwest
    • Qantas
    • Qatar Airways
    • South African Airways
    • Singapore Airlines
    • Sri Lankan Airlines
    • Thai Airlines
    • United Airlines
    • US Airways
    • Virgin Atlantic (only if on same ticket)

Please be aware that Aer Lingus will no longer check bags all the way through if a passenger has a separate ticket with another airline even if they provide the separate tickets at check-in. The only time this will be done is if they are connecting Aer Lingus to Aer Lingus.
If a passenger has a through fare/tickets they will be checked in to their end destination as well as their bags.

Hi All--I am booked to fly Shannon--Edinburgh this week, I booked two bags thinking that I was allowed 20kgs each, but looking at their website it seems to say that you maximum allowance (before you have to pay excess) is 20kgs for checked in bags in total, regardless of how many bags you have checked in--is this correct?

Some airlines will not carry a single bag over a certain weight health and safety. For example BA will charge extra if 1 bag exceeds 23 kg, even if your overall allowance allows it. If bag exceeds 32 kg BA will only send it as cargo. The following web page may be of help.

Yes - The 20 Kg is per person, so if you have more than 1 bag, the total combined weight should not exceed 20 kg.
There is an option with some airlines to purchase additional weight, so perhaps you can modify your booking to add this.

Anyone know how strict they are with the 1 piece of carry on luggage? Can you have your little wheelie case and a shoulderbag or laptop bag aswell??
