Anyone using the service in Charlesland or other areas of Greystones?

Aeriels not allowed under lease terms but looking at some major eyesores such as constructed by local creche ownersin Park-Grove, it doesn't look like lease terms are enforced.

Looks like the area is covered. http://www.saorview.ie/make-the-switch/coverage-checker/coverage-map/

there have been reports of good reception in Greystones over on the Terrestrial Broadcasting board. An aerial in the attic would probably be sufficient if you didn't want to put one up externally - the transmitter is on Kindlestown Hill.

What about in an apartment where you can barely get a mobile phone signal?? :o

If you have a recent TV all you need is one of the indoor aerials from Lidl at €12 and the quality of the signal is absolutely incredible. At the moment you can get 1080i on Network2. I live in the Wood and I put the aerial on the window and point it roughly towards the Sugarloaf.

indoor aerial works well in Charlesland: as wardie says, point it roughly towards the sugar loaf. The polarity is vertical so make sure you twist the aerial so the elements are vertical to get an even better signal quality!

An aerial in the attic is just as good, and doesn't provide any better a signal condition than the indoor aerial, the signal is just that good (I've tried both). One of these are available from Powercity for €17.

You may need to get a signal booster as well.

I have put a powered one on the line between the aerial and my box - increased the signal from range 50 to 70 up to a fairly decent and consistent 90%. RTEs were OK it was only the TV3 signal that kept dropping.

OK, if you have a sattelite dish, and you get a Finlux Saorview & Satellite Combi Box will this work through the dish i.e. so that you don't need a TV aerial?

Also, can you watch different channels in different rooms?

If you have Broadband and a decent screen size, www.aertv.ie is a good option

Aerial required for the Saorview channels and satellite dish for the FTA UK channels.

Separate Saorview receiver required at each TV point connected to the aerial and satellite dish if required.

Hi everyone. I know this post is old. Hoping someone can help. I'm setting up my mams combi box. It's finlux combi. I have a different brand myself and there are 2 wires coming from the dish to the box BUT my mams finlux combi just has one socket for the 2wires. What do I do? Thanks for the help.

You only need to connect 1 of the cables from the dish, as your combi box only has 1 satellite tuner.

Also, you probably know this, but you'll need a terrestrial aerial feed to get Saorview.

Thanks so much Ronnie. Yes, i have the rest sorted with digital Arial - thats all working perfect. I did connect just one, then went to menu for Satellite tuning and it said it couldn't detect it (or words to that effect). I didnt try terrestrial tuning, didnt want to disturb what was there already, it should be the satellite option on the menu anyway shouldnt it. Any ideas? Thanks again

Yes, it's satellite tuning you want. If the dish was originally part of a Sky+ setup (or other twin-tuner for UK channels), then either cable should work, assuming everything is still connected properly, still in working order & the dish hasn't lost alignment.

Yes it was Sky plus setup. Its actually for my mum, my brother moved out so she is planning on cancelling Sky, its currently working now as we speak on a basic package. I popped over at the weekend to see if I can switch it over for her. Now that you say 'alignment', I think the message might have said something to do with that. Would it need a slightly different alignment for the combi? Do you think i just need to send someone up to adjust the dish then?

Your very kind to help me Ronnie, much appreciated (and my mum & dad too :) )

No the dish does not need to be realigned. If it was the one used for Sky then it will be fine (its pointing the right direction).

You need to connect one of the 2 cables to the LNB input on the box and then do a scan in the satellite menu. You may have to pick 28.2 as the satellite you need to scan.
