Mitchell-Murray Card

    Anyone watch this?

    Frankie Gavin didn't make 140 and the fight was changed to a catchweight. He scraped by Curtis Woodhouse on a split decision. Not good.

    Tony Bellew against McKenzie was terrible. There was very little action. Bellew was going on like put on a masterclass. :P Cleverly will beat him convincingly I think.

    The Burns-Cook fight was bizarre.

    The main event was a cracking fight. Mitchell's sharp, accurate punches won out in the end and he stopped Murray. The main event made up for what was a poor card otherwise. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Mitchell next.

    I was at the show, quite a dramatic one at times. Craig evans caught my eye in his fight early in the night. Was looking forward to see frankie gavin more than anyone on the card, quite disappointed to be honest. Woodhouse had alot of success and did very well to unsettle gavin.
    An uppercut in the 12th buckled woodhouses knees but that was the best of the action. Gavin should not struggle at this stage!
    Bellew came to the ring to an everton song much to some disapproval but firmly a home favorite. Very dull fight..
    The mouth began to water with the arrival of Cook vs Burns, scottish fans came to life ( not one of them will remember being at the fight ) left scratching our heads as cook stumbled around the ring for a minute and a half holding his back! Thankfully Murray Mitchell lived up to the expectation and stole the show! Excellent ring entrances , explosive boxing from start to finish. Mitchell fought the perfect fight, absolutely excellent in every department . While celebrating the knockout an extremely angry looking joe murray was staring the way of myself and some fellow fans happy with the result. Quickly wiping the big smile off my face :P with the liverpool / manchester rivalry about to spill over into brawls we made our exit!

    I can't see the fuss with Gavin. Sure, neat, slick and has the moves, but still quite an amateur in style. Very little power too, and WW? McGuigan commented on Fun Frankie; didn't mince his words either.

    As for the Burns fight..It was a one off incident; bizzare, but explainable. They guy was in a heap.
    I thought the sky sports dude who described it as a farce was well off the mark. The BBBC dude
    let him know this.

    75% of bets placed on betfair were for Burns to win inside 3 rounds, sounds as if he wasn't right going into the fight.

    Hey, nothing would suprise me in pro boxing. But to me it seemed like a freak freak occurrence. Warren said it well. He passed the tests, was cleared to box. That is it. If he was carrying a back injury, then barring an MRI scan, how would anyone know unless he stated this?

    He also had to complete a training camp. Would he have done this without feeling that injury?

    As for the betting? Happens a lot in boxing, but not all betting scebarios mean that something suspect is going on. I highly doubt Cook was faking that.

    He wasn't faking, no way but there must have been rumours floating around about his back. Sounds as if they got him fit enough to get into the ring and collect his paycheck, unfortuantly it looks like his back completely gave out on him.
