Booking flight way ahead

Basically I need to buy a return flight going out in August and returning next July (date isn't important). The cheapest is Etihad (by a good margin) but they only let you book 11 months ahead on the website (so up to 17 June next year).

So what I was wondering is, if anyone knows whether airlines typically can book further ahead if you call them? (or better still, if anyone knows about Etihad)

Really annoying because they already have the flight timetables for next July and I managed to sort of "trick" the site into showing those dates. I can even select it and it works until I get to payment when it says its too far into the future.

You won't be able to book that far ahead, best to get a open return ticket, they will put a date for return which you can change when you get nearer the time for return.

You sure or just guessing? Lufthansa let me book till 17 July but are about 300€ more expensive.

I'm not sure Etihad do "open return" tickets (or do I need to call them to do that?). What I was going to do was buy a normal return for next June and pay the change fee (125€), or is that what you meant? Only problem is I'm sort of sketch I'd have some other fees to pay besides that

when i booked my ticket going to australia they just gave me a date for about 6 months later which i could change over there to a date that i wanted to come back at no cost, they told me they can't book ticket's that far ahead so i just called there local office in oz when i wanted to come home and changed it.

i did this through a travel agent in ireland, i don't think that you can get open tickes online but i could be wrong.

    Hope this makes sence.

Ok cool thanks. Paying the 125€ change fee would be okay, but paying none at all would be better still :)

What airline did you fly with by the way?
