    Bit of Background
No learner/Fulll drivers in my immediate family .
No one to tell me this stuff so I have a lot of questions and would very much appreciate some help

I currently intend on applying for my theory test this week which If I'm not mistaken lasts for 2 years

1)Can you immediately apply for a full license after you get the provisional and do the 12 mandatory lessons while your waiting ?
2)how much does it cost to take the test for the full license?
3)any advice Insurance wise for an 18 year old female ?
4)How much should one be looking to pay for a second hand mint condition Nissan Micra 2003/2004?
    5) what should the mileage be over to be considered High? or what is the ideal mileage

Some of these questions if not all may seem dense but I'm really new to all this :o

Its called a learners permit now and you cant take the test until after 6 months from obtaining your first permit.
Its 85 quid for the test itself.
insurance is different for everyone, so its best to try for a few quotes, though others will be able to give a rough price.
Just because a car has high mileage does not necessarily mean its bad, providing its been serviced.suppose above 100k would be high.
About between 2-3 grand I suppose for micras of them years.

Yes your theory test cert if valid for two years until you apply for your provisional otherwise you will have to sit it again if you haven't applied for your provisional when the two years are up.

1)Can you immediately apply for a full license after you get the provisional and do the 12 mandatory lessons while your waiting ?

Since you be getting your first provisional after the 4th of april of this year you will have to do the mandatory 12 lessons anyway. You can only apply for the full license after you pass your driving test. You need to have had your first provisional for 6 months before you can apply for your driving test. Once you have passed your driving test can you apply to get your full license.

2)how much does it cost to take the test for the full license?

I think its about €85 it was about €75 and as low as €37 so has since gone up in the last few years since the new changes to the Irish Driving System and rules have been put in place. I could be wrong with the price as they keep upping the price and I haven't done a test yet myself. If you look at the Road Safety Authority website they will have updated those details with the required information. Also the Rules of the Road book/online PDF file will have an up to date information on it.

3)any advice Insurance wise for an 18 year old female ?

Since you don't have any family members with a full licence you will need to have an accompany driver with you while you practise your driving in between lessons with a professional driving instructor. They need to be over 21 and have their full licence for 2-3 years at least. So the insurance will affect who your accompany driver is age is a major factor here, your age, the car, and your license and the fact you are female and 18 will determine which insurance policy will suit you. I have heard Hibernian avia are good to offer 6 months free insurance if you have an accompany driver with you. Diamond direct or something or quinn direct are good for people your age and the fact you are female. I am female, 26 but my accompany driver is a good bit older than me so the cost of insurance has been driven up because of me and I am still a learner driver on my 2nd provisional. I say if you go to your local EBS or similar you be able to get a suitable quote for an insurance policy to suit your needs.

How much should one be looking to pay for a second hand mint condition Nissan Micra 2003/2004?

I have a similar car to that age. I would say anything between €2,000-€6,000 be about right if its in good condition, depending on mileage and usage the last owner got out of it. I suggest you look at the car buyers guide website there are a few others online too you can have a look at to compare prices, its a good way to find out what a suitable price to go for when buying a car.

    5) what should the mileage be over to be considered High? or what is the ideal mileage

10,000 be average and normal anything between 25,000 and 35,000 be about right and reasonable anything higher than that be bit too high if you are going into the 40,000's.

Provisional License lasts 2 years also?
What if after the 6 months waiting you apply for your test but you are still waiting after your 2 year provisional license is up?

You have the first provisional and your at the 6 month mark .Can you apply to do the driving test for the full license and do the 12 Mand lessons whilst waiting to do the Driving test or do they have to be done before you apply to do the full driving test?

    whats a local EBS?:o

Provisional License lasts 2 years also?

Yes. Your first learners permit/provisional lasts two years. Your 2nd learners permit/provisional lasts another 2 years after that you will have to apply for your driving test the letter is enough and then you can cancel it and you get your 3rd provisional a year, if you fail your driving test you can get your 3rd provisional for two years.

Can you apply to do the driving test for the full license and do the 12 Mand lessons whilst waiting to do the Driving test or do they have to be done before you apply to do the full driving test?

Ya you can but your provisional license has to be valid for 6 months and its not until the 6 months are up until can you apply for your test. You can carry on with the mandatory 12 lessons while you are waiting like, you can apply for your test then. You must wait 6 months from the date your 1st provisional is issued to you before you apply for the test though. For example your license is issued on the 1st of January you cannot apply for your driving test until 1st of June!? Then can you apply for your driving test, pass and then get the cert of compliance and then apply for your full license!
So in answering your question, You must do the 12 mandatory driving lessons with a professional driving instructor before you do the full driving test!

    whats a local EBS?

EBS building society similar to a credit union but they offer services in Mortgages, savings, investments and all kinds of insurance including car insurance. They be able to give you a quote at a low rate maybe to suit your needs. A lot of factors will determine what quote you will get though including yourself, the car and your chosen accompany driver say a friend/neighbour. It might be wise to research insurance companies, get in contact with them directly and get a quote. You could do that online now days without having to ring. Compare them at least and pick and choose which you think you can afford and that will suit you best over all.
