Once you factor in exchange rates, shipping and insurance,,vat, top rate vrt for cars without certificate of conformity, and excise duty, it just doesn't add up any more.

Usually better to buy one that's been registered, has had alarm and immobiliser fitted, has a stereo that actually works and has an nct.

There are loads of cars out there with huge spec. You no longer need to get one from the other side of the world.

What car did you have in mind?

Unless it's something that you can't get here or of which the japanese version is much better

It would be cheaper to buy the car here now than to import from Japan. I'm guessing its a performance car as thats usually whats imported. Its getting harder to find good condition performance cars here now so if you cant find a clean example of what you're after then I'd consider importing alright. But make sure you do your research and have the figures right before committing to importing.

I think you may find jap mitsubidhi here also , no need run over world.

I've imported skyline 5 years ago. in that time skyline(r33 spec 2) cost 10-12 k euro, but if you imported yourself, it would cost around 6-7 k. now is absolutely different times, sporty cars not popular, and everyone thinks about economy.

I recently manage sell skyline for an astonishing 1k euro !!!!! (loss over 5 k euro +(some k upgrades and conversions).

If you importing car, youll have to pay shipping (around 800 euro) , VAT, customs duties and docket sorting (need hire a company for doing that), port duties, massive VRT, ....

Really.. not worth .... even if you have enough money, after a wile, youll regret about wasted money.

How honest will the Japanese sellers be if the car went for a wash and spin in March?
