I am looking at buying a '08 pathfinder. All seems ok with the car, but I have been hearing about problems with the clutch on pathfinders.
Anybody know anything about them. Were the clutches upgraded on these at any stage

The 06 Navaras had a dual mass fly wheel and the clutches and flywheels gave a lot of trouble They changed to a solid flywheel and heavier clutch in 07. I assume the Pathfinder is the same so you should be ok on that front. However they can give trouble with the fuel control system ,intermittent cutting out or failing to rev up. There are various sensors but it is difficult to find out which one as by the time you have someone out to check it the problem has cleared up, until the next time.
I would like to hear from anyone who could throw some light on this situation

    Thanks for that.
I spoke to a guy in Nissan and he told me the clutch has been replaced on the jeep to a single mass flywheel clutch which makes me a bit happier.
As for the throttle issue, I'll have to try not to rev it too much

The Gov'mt should set up a tribunal to identify the origin of dual mass flywheels, they are the bane of everything they're fitted to.

Nice to see a Manufacturer admiting defeat and reverting to something that's been problem free for a Century...
