Well, we have finally put the various down pipes into the ground round the new house & now need to put in (1) stone material & paths round the garden and (2) top soil for the garden etc.

    Looking for advice on the
    (1) stone material/ fill and path - what material is best, depth, depth of concrete etc..

    (2) Top soiling - whats the best depth over the compacted material round the house? What machine to use to prepare the soil for grass seeding?

I would try to avoid having any subsoil compacted if at all possible, otherwise the topsoil will not drain correctly. Some sections of my garden are still in poor condition because of compaction during construction six years ago.

Get the subsurface deep ploughed and rolled if at all possible, before laying topsoil.
