    Which one is the best?

    cartell.ie
motorcheck.ie -- I found a voucher code that gets 20% off. The €35 full check comes down to €28.

    Others?

Maybe they all hit the same sources anyway.

    Thanks
    P

the 3 star (full) check gives all these: for €35 or €28
    Irish / UK details incl:
    Vehicle Description
    History Check
    Mileage Check
Irish Finance Check -- Interested in this one.
    UK Finance Protection
    Stolen Check
    FREE Vehicle Valuation
    FREE Breakdown Cover
    And much more...

I've had the car checked out with a garage and I've driven it myself for ~15 miles and am happy enough with it. Just wanna make sure nothing comes back to haunt me.

It's as well to get the report. i've done it for the last few cars i've had. The way i see it you're giving 30 odd quid for something that could save you a lot of money in the future. The list of stuff you have there is more or less the same as the one i get. It definitely has the finance one. Always a good selling point as well if you come to sell the car because it will give the new buyer peace of mind.:D

Oh yes, I'm going to do it and will do the full check above. That's a done deal. ;)

I was just wondering which company is better or recommended. Which gives the better, more reliable, more up-to-date report?

    Thanks

    Hi P,

I'm confident that you'll find the Motorcheck report easier to interpret with a better quality of data (but then again I would say that - wouldn't I?).

Either way, if you're not happy with the result I'm happy to offer you a refund. As a new user I'd welcome your feedback.

You might want to check http://www.automart.co.za . Last time I was on there they had a great online car checking report. But that was a while ago, so you might find they have removed it.

    hi guys,
if i bring a car over from the uk and clear it,i presume the history will always stay with the car from its uk life? is this correct?

Sorry to jump in here but I thought it might be the place.

My brother just called me as he is looking into a car and a check suggested the car was bought in Macedonia and was possibly imported to Ireland from Japan!

Just wondering if any of the car check companies can shed any light on this sort of history before I commit the cash!

Apparently the car was registered to a diplomat...

    Thanks.

Motorcheck tyells me my car, as well as the basic registration details, has 28 additional records found.

This for a car that's only 6 months old!

Try doing a quote on the FBD website.

If the quote lets you proceed then the vehicle is likely kosher as they have an in built system (similar in certain ways to cartell) in that when you input the reg it pulls up all the information about the car eg if it was imported from outside of Ireland or the UK,if it was previously rated as being beyond economic repair,if it was involved in an MIBI case etc.

The information isnt available to you however if you get stopped/declined on the site when doing a quote, keep the reference, call the office and they will have the information on screen.
