Lee has just ported over this rom to the original Desire from the Desire HD. Has all the stability his roms usually do plus sense 2.1 and soon will have some features from sense 3.0. Its pretty much the rom everyone´s been waiting for, I have had since last night and find it fantastic so far. Check it out

Im using v2.4 I only rooted so I could have more apps so I don't understand what all these different ROMS do?
What difference will downloading this ROM make to my phone (desire)??

    I got it Friday night.
Found it excellent, would recommend it to anyone.

    Different ROMs have different features.
The one is question is ported over from the Deisre HD so your phone will have 'some' of the features of the software on that phone. i.e. the notification bar has more options than the standard Desire.
You can have tonnes of apps on this one too once you set it up right, you need 1GB ext 3 partition on your SD card for this one. You will have plenty of internal memory left on the phone so you shouldn't need to 'manage' it as much.

Upgraded to this ROM earlier via ROM manager from an older LeeDroid Build (First Froyo Build). I upgraded to the A2SD+ R2 version. When it installed, it reloaded and stayed on the white HTC screen. I left it for a while (went out for dinner) and it was still on the same screen two hours later. Tried restarting it, and same thing. Did a Nandroid restore to the previous version, but all my SD apps werent coming up. I also lost the market, ROM manager and MyBackup. Went into settings > applications and it could see them, but were greyed out. Downloaded the leedroid rom onto the SD card and installed it via recovery and it loaded and started up. Problem is though, all of my apps are still not showing and market is not working. (It appears but the force close pop up comes for less than a split second). Im kinda screwed. I cant get any of my older apps back, and I cant intstall linda manager to try and re-install any of the APK's that I have.

So, I have no Market, no internet, no messages, no accounts. Its really annoying!!

    Does anyone have any advice?

    Thanks

Try going into recovery, formatting sd-ext, factory reset, wiping dalvik cache and cache partition and then installing the rom again. That usually gets me out of a bind.

Tried it there from a full wipe. Loaded up better but still had no market or network connection. Got fed up! Put on the oxygen rom. Really like it so far. Missing wifi hotspot though. Its something I use...

Edit: I'm a dope. It does have it! No complaints so far so!

Anyone else install this ROM? I'm really interested in installing it. Got a spare 8GB card which I'm gonna partition with a 1GB ext3 partition.

Can someone run me through the steps? Here's what I think I need to do.

Do a nandroid backup of my current ROM.
Copy SD card to PC(for backup) and to the newly formatted 1GB ext3 card.
Boot into recovery with the 1GB ext3 card in here and restore ROM that was just backed up.
    Boot up.
I was going to install the ROM via ROM manager, should I?

Am I missing a step? Any suggestions?

    Yeah I have it.

Its on release 4, release 5 out later thia week.

are you S-off by the way, may be a requirement for this ROM.

    Steps:
    1. Back up SD card.
    2. Format SD card and partition (you can use ext4 now either)
    3. Copy data back over to cars.
    4. Boot into recover and perform a full wipe/facteloey reset.
    5. Wipe the cache (option below step 4!).
    5. Flash the new ROM (and radio if required)
    6. Boot her up go through set up and restore apps. If using titanium back up just restore apps and data (green ones) not system data (red).

You don't need to restore the nandroid back up at anytime unless your new one doesn't work.
I wouldn't use ROM manager for flashing an entirely new ROM as you have to wipe data first.
Once your on this ROM you can just flash the latest version over it with no wipe.

First boot can take 30 minutes to build the cache back up!

There's an optional sense 3 add on for this one. I wasn't a fan of the lockscreen myself so left it out.

Go for the a2sd+ version by the way. There is a data++ version but its complicated if you aren't sure what you're doing.

Not really sure what s-off is. Care to enlighten me?

Look up alpharev and you'll see.

Its kinda like a proper root you could say.

You can edit the partition tables in the phone then to suit the ROM you're on.

You can try it if still s-on anyway and if it doesn't work just restore the nandroid back up.

I'm not 100% sure but I think you might only need S-OFF for the data++ version. I'm on R4 of the a2sd version and it works a treat, highly recommended.

Griffdaddy did you get addfree working?

Had a similar problem.with it before can't remember how I fixed it!?

Kearneybobs let us know if you get it working.

I was expecting my memory card to arrive in the post today, but it didnt. So I'll be waiting until tomorrow, at least.
I'll report back if/when it works. Thanks.

Adfree is bust in this release, I don't think reinstalling it from the market does anything either. It's a known issue though and Lee is onto it as far as I know. I think R5 will out this week.

Lee said over on XDA that he'll be releasing R5 today, so you're better off waiting a while before flashing.

I got R5, works grand but adfree is still not working.
Anyone know how to fix it?

Decided not to go with this myself. I have s-on so I'm not sure if I'll run into some problems there. Decided to just go with the gingerbread ROM (3.0.8.2). No problems with that one what so ever.
I really do like the look of the new HTC sense stuff. That's what's tempting me.

Flashed this rom the other night and loving it so far.
I came from Acesmod007 rom with loads of sense 3.0 stuff. I found the rom nice, but very sluggish at times and a killer on the battery life. Started to annoy me at times, especially when the sense 3.0 answer phone screen would hang and Id miss a call!!

This rom is very stable and perfectly fast. Also the battery life is MUCH better than the Acesmod007 one, especially the standby in battery. Only uses about 4-5% battery as it sits in my pocket from 9-5.

Has anyone tried the flashing the sense 3.0 stuff with the leedroid rom?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,225 ✭✭✭Keith186

Yeah had the 2nd latest version.

It was ok but still small bit sluggish imo.

SMS delivery notifications were annoying too. I.e. no delivery reports PR else delivery reports with an alert tone and notification bar alert.

Sorry to resurrect an oldish thread but i thought it was apt.

Trying to install this ROM and am running into some problems.

I'm currently trying to obtain S-OFF with my desire with a HBOOT of 0.80.0000 and I keep getting errors with the AlphaRev tool that I boot up from cd. Something about being 'unable to enumerate usb device at port 7'
I think I need a rooted stock rom first since I'm currently using LeeDroid 3.0.8.2 with app2sd i think.

Anyone got a link for a rooted stock rom?

After I get S-OFF I need to update the bootloader which I already have the on the sd card. One that is compatible with the rom. Then repartition the card for the 1GB ext3 and reflash the rom. Am I missing something?

Here is a link to the latest rooted stock rom.

If AlphaRev still throws up an error with that rom, try using Revolutionary instead. It's essentially the successor to AlphaRev and you don't need to mess around with bootable disks. I don't think it'll work without 0.93 hboot though so here is the latest stock RUU which will get you there. You'll need a goldcard to flash it and unrevoked to root it. (If memory serves, Revolutionary will also do the rooting for you, but I could be wrong. Try it first anyway)

Then you'll need to flash the correct hboot from the AlphaRev site. You can use a tool called Fastboot Commander instead of messing around with the regular fastboot. You can partition your card at any stage of the process and flash away.

Thanks for the reply there. I got it all sorted. I ended up flashing Cyanogen mod 7.1 since it's not and a2sd rom and then was able to obtain s-off. That changed my bootloader from 0.80.0000 to 0.93.0001 which is exactly what I needed to install the a2sd+ version of the Rom. Playing around with it since I installed it earlier. Really nice. Worth the effort i think. Not too sure if I'll install the Sense 3.0 addons since I'm not too sure on battery life yet. I'll see how that goes first.
    Thanks again.
