Anyone have an idea when the sales are over? I'm really tired of the shops being rammed with rails of absolute tat. I need to find a dress for a wedding in august so I'm hoping they are well over by then!

Oh gosh, it's such a nightmare! I'd say start of August when the Autumn/Winter collections come in but that's just a stab in the dark. The sooner the better I say!

Oh me too! Although it's not so much the colours as it is the cut and shape of the clothes- I love bright colours but it's just the S/S stuff just isn't cut as well and tends to be a bit on the flimsy side. I love the structure and support of the A/W stuff.

Plus whilst I like a nice summer, I much prefer the feeling of wrapping up in a warm winter coat & going into my local with the fire burning. So cosy :)

I thought that was just me! I always get looked at weirdly when I talk about preferring winter...

Oasis have loads of beautiful dresses that'd be perfect for a wedding, you should look at the rails instead of avoiding them :)

Come on Autumn! I want to wear my cape!

It's torture buying Winter stuff in the Spring sales, I've been waiting about 6 bloody months to wear all my beautiful new Winter clothes. Summer stuff is too bright for me, my skin suits blacks and greens. :(

I keep getting emails from shops saying "last few days of sale" so hopefully they'll all wrap up soon OP.

I saw a nice winter coat in Zara today! There's definitely some winter stuff there now. I think I'll save my money til September when it's all in. Oh, who am I kidding?!

Ye're mad, it's just because we have ****e sales here. I was over in Liverpool the last week and the sales were amazing. I would never want them to end, here however we just get the same old stock thrown out until it's sold off.

    Ridiculous!

I was in Miss Selfridge today and the entire shop was full of sale items. There wasn't one non-sale item there. That's just taking the piss.

I noticed that in Miss Selfridge there sale stock is just terrible at the moment, Probably due to the horrendous trends last season. Even my local Zara is mainly sale items.

A/W is also good for fashion though!

Yeah OK, to be fair Zara is hideous for sales. I swear last A/W's went on till mid March.

If the stores want their sale stuff to shift, they need to reduce their prices!

What exactly is the point of reducing a €60 dress to €55 and hoping someone suddenly wants it for that 'bargain' price?

They're probably playing on the fact that some people are stupid and will think that a dress reduced from €60 to €55 is a bargain. Some people will buy anything that has a sale sticker on it.

I've found this year the sale stuff has, in general, been awful. The style is unflattering and the quality of the material deplorable. I was looking for a few smart/casual tops and skirts which I could wear to work, but anything I picked out I just put back straight away due to the quality. Pennys' clothing was nearly better quality!

What really annoyed me was some of the stuff that was 'on sale' is clearly very old stock, probably about 2 years old, and it was just hauled out and put on display in a bid to sell it. This was done in one very well-known shoe shop, and when I mentioned it to the staff member, they actually said a lot of the stock was well over a year old, but they were told they had to put it out to sell it! It's as if shops are using the recession as an excuse to put out really old stock, while leaving anything decent at ridiculous prices!

Office is terrible for that, I've seen the same few pairs of hideous shoes in every sale for the past 3 years. You'd think they'd get the hint and sell them off really cheap/ move them to another store, but no. I'm starting to think it's some sort of staff in-joke.
