Recover Photographs from Formatted Hard Drive

Hi,
Any suggestions on softwear that will recover pictures from a re-formatted Hard Drive, I reinstalled Vista some months ago but cannot remember did it reformat the drive as part of the installation, just looking for softwear that I could scan my Hard drive to see of anything is on it and if its recoverable?

Great help ....... can't see why you bothered posting, of course I partly guessed there was a good possibility of getting a smart arse reply

I used a programme called GetDataBack, after one of my hard drives died and stopped beign recognised by my PC.

Not the same thing as formatting, I know, but similar (so long as you don't fill the hard drive's memory again, the photographs should still be on it).


So I'd recommend GetDataBack. Make sure you have another drive with enough space to dump everything back onto though (as GDB moves from the old drive to the new drive, so, for example, I was recovering 800GB of data, so I needed to have a drive with 800GB free to put the stuff).

I did check Google before I posted but showed quiet a few programs, just thought I would then ask here as there may be one or two program that members here have used.

I've used this on several different filesystem types successfully.

It's probably overkill for most people.. but it's pretty reasonably priced.

Thanks Heebie for the Link, I have recovered some using Recuva. I'll have a look at the Link you posted later.
