3ds is a great console with loads of potential. As for games, at the moment there is a serious lack of games for it, the only game with any real value is a 13 year old remake, The Legend of Zelda great game though.

Lets just be clear about that :D

True enough though the 3D works great on it but alas doesn't add anything to the game

No matter, any Zelda is a thumbs up (except for those abominations on the CD-I).

Fantastic potential but not many good games. Street fighter, Dead or Alive, Zelda, Pilot Wings and few others are great but it's a matter of waiting for the second wave of games which will really show how great the 3DS is.

Basically, if you like the idea of having a Porsche in your driveway...but no petrol to drive it...buy a 3DS. There's simply a massive void in software for it. Its a dreadful allowance by Nintendo.

You know what, if you posted that last week, I couldn't have thank your post fast enough! However, I got Zelda:Ocarina of Time from Gamestop for 3 old games, and to be honest, the only reason I got it because the deal was ending and nothing else took my fancy.

I played the old one to death, but I have to say, I'm absolutely loving it. My gf, who never played it, is also playing and it's great to see her getting such enjoyment from the game.

Now, one game does not a console make, and I do agree that there is a dreadful shortage of games on the system, but I think Zelda will plug the game until we start seeing better games on the system.

Almost sold my system. Threat averted.

I have the same game sitting here beside me. Gave it a decent tryout last night (big Zelda fan) & was impressed. It's clean, sharp & tidy. It still has the Zelda 'feel' & the 3D enhances the game for sure. Definitely agree with your post, massive thumbs up for the game.

But...it's a fifteen year old game essentially on a brand new system. To use Ocarina of Time as a redeemer for the 3DS...on paper at least it speaks volumes for the software on the system (or lack of). For the launch price of the system €250, & a game on launch day €50ish...four months on the return on the outlay is SO dissappointing. I'm sure it'll improve over time, but I can't help but feel my 3DS is still on pre-order despite sitting here on a shelf :(

If it's in reasonable condition then yes. You'll still have nearly nine months left on the warranty too.

I have a question for any owners of the 3DS. Do you still find the 3D aspect appealing or have you found yourself turning it off?

The reason I ask is because I nearly bought one today in Game. I had never had a go and was about to purchase one based on reviews here and from other sites. Just before I purchased it I asked the guy behind the counter if they had a working model I could test out before I committed to buying it and he pulled one out for me (a 3DS, not his penis).

I had a go of Street Fighter and wasn't blown away. I mean, I thought it looked pretty cool and so did my girlfriend but she found herself sliding the 3D switch to 'off' after only a few mins with it.

I wasn't planning on purchasing Street Fighter (was looking at Zelda) but I thought to myself, if I do find myself turning off 3D, is it really just a glorified DS then?

Is the 3D presented better in Zelda than Street Fighter?

I can't speak for everyone but I don't think the 3D is a feature that wows with everygame. Its good on Ocarina of time but the battery life takes a battering (pardon the pun) when the 3D slider is up. I also played Rayman & PES on the 3DS and wasn't blown away by it. The 3D is not something I leave up most times when I play cause it can be awkward to hold in place for a length of time & it affects the battery life as I mentioned.

On the 3DS Ghost Recon is cheap and pretty entertaining for the money. Very linear though. For DS, Pokemon Platinum and Black/White if you're that way inclined, Picross, GTA Chinatown Wars, Advance Wars, the Mario and Luigi games (partners in time and bowsers inside story or something like that), Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars, The Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney games, The World Ends With You, Shin Megami Tensei (sp?) Devil Survivor, Final Fantasy Tactics A2 (and if you like those tactics games but find them too easy there's the absolutely fiendish and unforgiving Hoshigami Remix), Elite Beat Agents. Animal Crossing is quite fun too but I can't quite understand why I like it, on paper it's mindnumbing.

BTW you can't play the DS Guitar Hero (not that you'd want to) on the 3DS 'cause you don't have a GBA slot to plug the controller into.
