went out with the neighbour a few months ago and was surprised as to the amount of rabbits about, thought to myself "i'll leave them till later on and they will be a good size when i do get round to it,
last year i was up at a friends grandads farm and there were that many rabbits i was able to get 2 with the shotgun at 15:00 .
two days ago i head to the same farm, seen 2 rabbits on the brow of a hill so had to leave them, saw 4 fox's though none of witch could come within 120yrd's, so came home empty handed,
disappointed, the next night i headed out round my own hill but only seen 6 rabbits in total, took one for the pot and left the rest,
then tonight i headed to the fields that a few months ago were full of them, but same story only 1 on the top of a hill with a house behind it

i head out round 22:00 and dont come in till 01:00, is this too late, too early, how can i get more success:confused:

Change tactic, go to different sides of the farm,

Rainy weather I find always changes there feeding habbits

If no go on one farm, go to another.
I often went to 6 or 7 farms until I found bunnies out :D

what gun are you using that you couldnt fire at a fox at 120yards?? ( presuming its a rifle since you didnt fire on the brow of a hill) be patient and head out a few nights when you get the chance. the weather may have effected the amount you saw also.

keep at it and take your shots when the opportunity presents, hunting is about being able to take a shot when it presents and being able to think on your feet,

    practice practice practice.

its a.22lr with subs, wouldn't be happy with my marksmanship to take head shots at that distance yet, but i'll get there :P

do you think night is the time for rabbits or during the day?

a lot of my permissions are foot job's to get round them, and it's not worth driving to them as you'd spend more time getting gear in and out than hunting, i normally scan the field then move on to the next if nothing out, don't spend any time waiting for something to come out, maybe this is what i'm doing wrong,

    restrict yourself to headshots only

I'll never forget my first head shot. I took it, and it worked, and I never looked back

Nobody can tell you when you are ready.
You just have to try it. A bunnies head is small if you hit it's dead, if you miss it runs away

    You will learn quick :D
