Yes. If you have your recorder tuned in to the UPC channel, then you can play the recording through that channel and record it as you watch. Its the long way of doing it, but the only way.

No I think he means the question has been asked a number of times.

UPC use a secure encryption method and while your box has two tuners it only has one decoder.

The box records the raw encrypted stream and when you go to watch it the built in decoder goes to work to decrypt it while you watch it.

Strictly speaking it is. Strictly speaking, making ANY copy of a copyrighted work is illegal, unless you have the premission of the copyright holder. There is no concept of "Fair Use" in Ireland.

If you're just planning on making the one copy for yourself, via this rather long-winded route, which involves converting the signal to analogue and then back to digital, you're unlikely to be pulled up about it. It doesn't involve hacking the system.

However, we will not entertain ANY discussions on cracking Nagravision or any other conditional access system. Which is why I am going to put a sticky up about in the near future.

It is not illegal to copy any copyrighted material for your own personal use. Nor is it illegal to manipulate the format of a programme so as to convert it to a format your equipment can handle, as long as it is for personal use.
