So I got passed my truck theory exam, Just wondering if I can apply for the full test without having the CPC passed yet, I plan on doing the CPC next week but I want to have the full test as soon as possible, I also heard I might not need the CPC as I dont plan on working in Ireland getting a truck licence for Australia, Any help appreciated

I'm am know were near sure what is actually needed you'll have to check with the embassy really. But i would think you would need cpc and also an international driving licence which expires after a year then you have to do the australian driving test.
Why i think you'll need cpc if you need it here to drive for a living with your driving licence i would guess you'll have to have it while your on an irish licence there.
I'm only guessing so ring the embassy.
If you are going to do the cpc at some stage in the future,i would rethink that and do it now as your only put extra expence on yourself as you will have to hire a truck for both truck test and the cpc,but if you do it all in the one go you only pay for the hire of the truck once.

    Answer is Yes.

You don't need to do the CPC unless your occupation is a full time driver, but you can still do the test, and do the CPC at a later date.

Hi Davy! I think he is asking if he does the truck test here without the cpc, will he be able to go and work as professional truck driver in australia.
It's actually a good question if you wouldn't qualify here as a professional driver without the cpc.Could you drive a truck for a living over there on an irish licence without cpc?or is having an irish licence the standard they look for.

That driver CPC b*ll*x is for EU states only:D having worked in OZ and checked out Canada you do not require the driver CPC although in order to get an Aussie licence you would be required to resit the driving test unless your employer lets you drive on a International permit,It's one of the things I hate about our so called recipricol agreement with the aussies they can just exchange their full licences to an Irish one yet we have to reist the tests for anything larger than a car.

Sorry, I know this is slightly off topic but I just have to say it.....

Stupid f**king, bo**ocks, ball of sh1te CPC.. Have done my first module of this excuse to collect money. What a waste of time. Fair enough for new entrants to the job but seeing as I already hold an ADR licence, which by the way, doesn't count as "training" under the rules of the CPC, despite it being an essential requirement of my daily work, must I be forced to sit through this rubbish. Supposed to be doing the next module soon but still haven't sufficiently recovered the will to live enough to attempt it.

Rant over, once again, my apologies.

What I originally meant to say before my rant took over was well done on passing the theory test. Apply for the driving test, you only need the CPC if driving is your regular job. Oh yeah, leave the country too, if only for a few years, this place is screwed.... Good luck..
