    Running XP SP3.

I was handed this laptop as the owner had just signed up to a new broadband package. It wouldnt connect to the wireless.

A quick check of the device manager showed the ethernet and the wireless drivers were not installed. Logged on to dell and downloaded the drivers and installed. Installed ok but would not work. Device manager still showing Yellow exclamation marks.

Tried a few things and no go. Backed up everything and reinstalled XP. Still nothing. I then removed the wireless modem from the board and re-boot. The LAN connection shows up with "Cable is disconnected". I plugged in the cable and away we go. Put the modem back in and restart - connection gone.

Remove the card again and we are back in business. So faulty wireless modem ?.
But why is it interfering with the ethernet.

This is similar to another new post on the forum. Similar problem ?
    Anyone any thoughts.
