I buy a second hand Iphone thats still under the 1 year warranty. Because I am not the original purchaser of the goods the warranty is null n void ?

I put this question to an apple repair shop and thats what I was told.

    Is this true ???

If its nonsense and I need to send it back to apple, do I need proof of purcahase ?

    Thanks guys in advance

No, if its registered with Apple by the original user, they need to ring Apple and get it transferred over to the new owner,. You can then organise repair if necessary. if they never registered it, you should be able to set up an account with Apple and register it yourself.

So all in all whether its registered or not , without the proof of purcahase you cannot sent it off for repair ?

No, when registered it has a purchase date on the Apple system. Go on to apple.com/ie go to support and down the right side of the screen there should be a link to check your status using the serial number. This should tell you a lot.

    Remo,

I purchased an iPhone from someone who received it as an upgrade, I had a receipt for it. Two weeks from the end of the warranty I had a problem with the phone and needed to return it to Apple, they didn't request any proof of purchase and I did not need the receipt, once the phone was in warranty it seemed to be good enough for them. I received a replacement phone to cut a long story short.

    Hope this answers your question
