Boxee vs VLC/Media player Classic

I installed Boxee last week onto my media pc that is running Win Vista home premium. I found that it did a great job organizing my media and I ilke the remote control on my phone working over wifi.

It plays everything I have, however I think there is a quality difference, the picture does not seem as sharp compared to VLC or Media Player Classic.

Am I imagining this? it seems like there is a layer of compression that takes from the quality. Or maybe there is a different codec pack with it.

    Would this be the case?
