Got this box in Asda at a reduced price of £35 so we could receive Saorview and Freeview HD when it comes to the North. When I got home and connected to the TV, only problem is that it refuses to turn on so that it can be tuned......its in constant standby mode..... but the only thing is that the channels that were already picked up by our Freeview built in TV are still coming through the box to the TV

Anyone had a similiar problem to this?????

Turn it on/off a few times.

When you do get into it, upgrade the firmware via USB stick. The firmware shipped is rubbish by all accounts.

I have one of these for about 4 months now, it has locked up a couple of times and i have to unplug it for about 15 minutes to get it going again. Turn the on/off switch at the back to off and then pull out the power lead, after about 15 minutes push the power plug in again and switch the main switch back to on again, that should fix it
    .
Download software update to usb, switch box off at rear main switch, plug in usb, switch box back on while also holding in front panel standyby button until "soft" appears in display and it will update the software for you.

Excellent picture quality from this box although mheg5 is slow to load (10 secs) and Saorview epg is an hour out. Great value at 35 pounds.

Brillant, I've got it working - was thinking of bringing it back to the store today last night. Have all the Saorview channels......trying to figure out if RTE TWO HD is actually broadcasting in HD!!!!!! haha

To those who own this box, do yous know if it will be able to pick up both Saorview and Freeview HD (when it comes to NI next year) on the same EPG???? or will the fact that you have to pick Saorview or Freeview, not both is going to prevent that???......is just that I live very near to the border and it would be great if I could pick up the Freeview HD channels when they come along with Saorview

Glad to hear you got it working, I use it as my main box instead of walker box as it has better picture quality on my tv, no reason why it wont pick up all channels as they become available but we will have to wait and see how the epg interprets two different sets of data.

Do the Saorview and Freeview channels appear in the one EPG on this box?

No they don't, not at the moment anyway. When I scanned it made me choose between the Irish Saorview channels or the UK Freeview channels, I chose the Saorview channels since the TV already has a Freeview tuner built in to it. Don't know whether the Freeview HD channels will be place in the same EPG as the Saorview ones when they come to the North, I'm kinda hoping it will, was one of the reasons I bought the box.

Great to read this. I saw this today in Asda for £35, I think I can handle the time difference and switching it on and off for that price. I'll be going back for it tomorrow!

Just pick one from the back of the shelf.........the first one I got was really faulty, refused to turn on on the second day I had it, returned it and got a new one - just picked one from the back of the shelf, think the first one could have been dropped a few times!!!!....... its a really good box, worth buying
