Student loan with ulster bank

    Hey, just wondering if anyone can shed some light. I went into Ulster bank to try and get a small student loan of 200 euro. I thought I'd have no problems as I have no debts. I was told that they are not dealing with student applications at the moment. Anyone know why? Thanks :)

    You're better off trying the Trinity branch of Bank of Ireland in the Atrium, or the Trinity desk at the AIB on Westmoreland Street. Ulster Bank and permanent tsb aren't nearly as interested in offering loans to students.

    If you have no joy with the bank try your local credit union. They Ive been with Ulster Bank years. Never any debt with them. I dont really have a credit rating because i never borrowed before. They refused me point blank. I had a couple of loans with credit union and as long as you pay it back no problems getting another.

    Ask the student union... My friend got a loan of €100 there the other day. He has 4 weeks to pay it off as well! :)
