Ugh... 1.4 for a car that weighs 1.3 tonnes. Not a good idea.

A 1.4 golf is a good car but pricey because they are sought after, you would have a better chance picking up a skoda fabia which is the same car in a different body for less money.i test drove a mazda 3 and it felt very underpowered.lots of cars for sale on donedeal.ie with owners leaving the country.try to buy a low milage car with full service history to prove the milage and it should last you years. best of luck .

Eh, Fabia is based on the Polo not the Golf. The Octavia is based on the Golf. And if you think a 1.4 Mazda 3 is underpowered try a 1.4 Golf.

OP, the 1.4 (non TSi) engine found in the Golf and Octavia is not very reliable. Also none of these cars in 1.4 form will have any decent performance, find a 1.6 version instead.
