Thai Visa Question

Just finished booking RTW flights and internal flights and we've noticed that we're staying in Thailand for 32 days instead of 30 days. Will this be a problem? We arrive in Bangkok on the 18th of November and I stupidly booked us flights on the 18th of December from Phuket to Bali thinking it was 30 days (wasn't paying attention). 30 days is actually the 16th of December. It's quite ironic actually because we booked flights out of Thailand for this specific reason.

Will it matter that we overstay by 2 days even though we have proof of flights booked and if so where will we be asked? Leaving India to travel to Thailand or leaving Thailand to travel to Bali?

Should I cancel the flights and re-book for the 16th?

i wouldn't really worry about it to much, when you overstay they will charge you 500 baht a day with the 1st day being free so you will only have to pay 500 each when departing, just make sure you don't come to the attention of the thai police when your overstay kicks in that's where it could get seriously messy but the chances of that happening are slim.

Your other option would be to get a tourist visa but that costs and not really needed,

A few years ago i overstayed my visa by a lot longer than 2 days, it was a few month's overstayed crazy i know but i was young and crazy, i just paid 20,000 baht at the airport when i left and there was no more about it and have been back loads of times since so no blacklist.

In thailand money is there greatest friend. anything can be sorted if you have the cash.

Cheers for the info. I logged into my account on Air Asia and changed the flight to the 16th in the end. Figured I should seeing as that was the reason we were booking the flights in the first place. We had to pay the difference which was €20 each (the original flight on the 18th was a promo flight but the 16th wasn't). The only annoying part was the fee for changing which was €30 each. Kind of annoying since the flights are so cheap anyway but I suppose I deserve that for being so stupid with the dates in the first place.

The girlfriend says she's never going to let me live it down, ha!

By and large Gustafo is absolutely right, for a 2 day overstay it should just be a matter of paying a fine at the airport. However, you should be aware that if a police officer was to check your passport in that 2 day period (before you get to the airport) you could face deportation with a short stay in the Immigration Detention Centre! This has happened to people - I'm not saying this is at all likely to happen to you, because it isn't (during several months in Thailand no one checked my passport once aside from at border crossings). But you should be aware of it so you can make an informed decision - after all you could get caught up in an accident or something beyond your control. If you do want to put your mind at rest you could change the return date of your flights, or apply for a tourist visa as you have plenty of time. Enjoy the TW trip, wish it was me!
