Well I have gone to a Pro in Killarney and 1 in Dublin looking to work on my short game. On both occasions they insisted on high irons and saying next session short game. I specifically went for chipping etc but they seem to be in the rip off mode. Anyone else come across this?

Why didn't you insist on short-game work? Seems very odd that they would force you to work on your iron play if you want to work on your chipping.

Theirs probably a few reasons for this. Short game and iron play are intrinsically linked and their are many different variations on short game techniques. One of the biggest problem people have with chipping and pitching it "flipping". Flipping is a common amateur problem that involves trying to help the ball up into the air with the hands in an incorrect manner. While many people (including myself at times) manage to hit the ball with full swing like this when you start chipping with this problem it makes it almost impossible.

Taking a look at your full swing is the quickest way for them to see where you are coming from.

In regard to short game technique. Their are so many different angles to approach it. Current gurus such as Dave Pelz and Dave Stockton all have different techniques.I could really write an essay about all the options for short game but I'm out for a few pints now. Maybe a quick google of Dave Pelz Short Game Bible might be worth a look (torrent their somewhere) . I think their are plenty of Dave Stockton Videos on youtube too. Maybe Phil Mickelsons videos worth a look too. :)

Another post of pure excrement from yourself, we'll put it down to the pints this time. You didn't answer the OP's question but instead go off into drivel about technique etc..

The OP said the pro insisted on working on something different to what they requested. Do you seriously think a pro needs a full lesson to determine if your not hitting down on the ball correctly with your full swing? Also any good pro would explain their reasoning behind working with the full swing first, which I assume wasn't the case here. It's pretty clear the pro was taking the p1ss.

Don't be writing any essays soon

Only trying to help buster :)

Cant be putting the horse before the cart ;) .......
    drivel about technique etc..

Why would the OP go to a pro unless he wanted to know about technique.

Obviously a bit excited though. I love golf so I always get excited I won't apologizes.

    The ale was grand ...

I can see where Buster is coming from though, the golf forum is descending into nonsense over the past few months. There's far too much ill advised gick being dished out by people who couldn't practice what they preach in their wildest dreams. Everything from equipment to swing analysis and everything in between, aswell as praising people for shooting scores not remotely approuching handicap!

Bring back Conno16, at least there was the odd big of entertainment!

Yes he went to the pro, not you. Last time I checked on here you hadn't turn pro.
Read the OP and let us know if you seriously answered the question or used it as an excuse to rhyme of sh1te about Dave Pelz and Dave Stockton thinking it would impress every one.

F22 is right, the forum has descended into a farce with posters like yourself who feel the need to comment on every thing, even when they have nothing of benefit too add. The problem isn't you love golf and are excited about it; it's the fact you love the sound of your own voice more.
