Another handicap question.

Myself and some friends have recently taken up the game. Its great as were all of a similar standard so despite none of us being particularly great the days out are nice and competitive.

My question is if you are regularly shooting under 100 say between 96 to 98 what sort of handicap have you.

I know it depends on the courses and slope ratings etc.. but as a fairly rough guide there must be a sort of average? (We have been playing at various courses)

We are looking to give ourselves a sort of unofficial handicap just to square things up for when we go out again as one or two of the group are improving at a better rate and we want to keep things fair and fun.

Any help would be great - even just an idea as to whether you think that sort of player is a 20 handicapper or a 28.

Hopefully this time next year we'll all be members somewhere with an official GUI!!!

Can't you work out a simple system yourselves? If shooting around 100 on a par 72 then give yourself around 28.

Yeh we could for sure. But were all curious to know what number (or thereabouts) we are shooting off too. Its surprisingly difficult to get an answer without being a club member.

Been told a few things like when a club is working out your handicap based on a card you have handed in, a shocking 11 on a par 5 wont totally f**k the round up on you and you may only lose 3 strokes on the hole instead of 6.

Am hoping someone might just know off handy roughly what sort of a handicap a 96 to 98 shooter would be

    Thanks

In terms of handicap, I believe the worst you can make on a hole is a double bogey. So adjust your score accordingly to get a handicap. I think it's a double, though i'm not 100% certain. I thankfully haven't had holes overly bad in a while :P
