Can you have a hall door that opens outward?

or is this illegal? I know upstairs doors have to open inwards for safety reasons but what about a hall door? We're reducing the size of the hall and we could put a table in if the door opened outward.

Yes you can , we had one in our last house built in 2001, the door was supplied by Munster Joinery.

Just make sure you have a good mechanical stop on the top of the door so the wind doesn't take it!
