The Sky+ box is HD ready-they are all HD ready as standard now.The choice of paying for HD is up to you,no need to get a new box if you decide to subscribe to HD in future.
The multiroom box doesn't have Sky+ functionality but is HD ready.As a bonus,from Sept. 1st if you get HD on the main box then you'll get the HD pack on the 2nd(multiroom) box for free.
