    Hi,

I am going to look at a 2006 A4 tomorrow and it has the 138BHP 2 litre diesel engine. The engine code is BRE on this particular car. Does anyone know of any known issues with this engine? I know some engine types of this era have an issue with the oil pump balancing shaft but I cant find for sure if this engine code suffers from it.

If anyone has any info before I go view it I would appreciate it.

    Thanks!

BLB is the engine code to steer clear of in the Audis.

The 2.0 TDI lump suffers injector problems and DMF failure. DMF usually needs replacing at around 100k miles.

As far as I know it does not have a DPF.
