id say it would be robbed but depends on the human traffic along the location;)

It can be done - you just need to get them properly camouflaged and set them discreetly using whats availiable in terms of vegetation and general cover. Twilight when theres no obvious public attention is the best time I find(going on my experience near the Liffey in Kildare):)

Spray the ttrap green then leave it in a leke for a day to get rid of the smell! Set it at l8 evening and put in reeds as near to the water as possible!

John West Sardines in sunflower oil worked well for me. Smoked kippers are supposed to be better for the summer time as they won't attract flies, or so I have been told.

Pick your spot. Put the bait in the trap and put the trap inside a black bin bag, this makes it look like a tunnel/cave and more attractive to minky.

You're going to need to pick a spot where the cage will be out of the natural eye line of passers by, or it will get robbed/vandalised. I used to cover mine in rocks and moss and they were very very hard to find, and I knew where they were! But, my spots have a lot of cover which helps greatly.

One thing, mink don't like white water, so if there's a spot with white water they like to come out onto the bank instead of going through the white water.

I'll see if I can dig out a couple of photos.

Couple of things, peg down your cage and tie it to the peg, this is in case of floods which may take your cage with them. Don't have the cage that close to the water that the mink may drown if the water level rises. And, with out getting into the subject here, as it's been done recently, work out how you're going to humanely kill the mink before you catch it.

This set below is unfinished, something like this you can create a little over hang at the front to hide the visible mesh.

If you can stand in the river and prepare the site from there you'll disturb the grass/vegetation less, making the set site less visible in general. Also be wary when checking the trap each day that you're not spotted by passersby.

Have a look around the place and see what's available to you to camouflage your set.

public walk way + trap = not good, the zealots will not approve

try trapping other side of the river if you have access
