All Things D are reporting the updated Macbook Air are coming next week, with a Backlit keyboards, Sandy Bridge Processors, Thunderbolt Port and 128/256GB configurations.

The Backlit Keyboards will be a nice addition, if true. But I wish they would do something with the bezel around the screen. I'd happily sacrifice a bit of weight/size for the Macbook Pro type black bezel.

The grey bezel doesn't bother me. The reason for it is because the screen is made of plastic as apposed to glass like the MBP. Glass is heavier and thicker. Also, the black/glass bezel makes the MBP far more vulnerable in the case of a fall.

Anyway, good to hear the backlit keyboard will be back. I'd like to see some improvement in battery life in the 11-inch as well.

I think somebody has reported it will come out the following week for the last 6 weeks in a row.

Looking forward to seeing this. I won't buy a macbook pro because they don't offer a matte screen. If the Air screen is not too reflective I will buy it.

I don't get why people are so interested in backlit keyboards, I can't ever image using one. On the other hand I'd kill for a matte screen...

Macbook Pros do come with a matte screen as a built to order option. You need to pay extra though. This will almost definitely be the case if the Air has a matte option too.

Only the 15" & 17" offer matte. The air uses plastic instead of glass so its not too bad.
