Cut a square out from the trimmings in the attic if you've any and the same around the hole.Swap it in for the new hole. It's a non patterned carpet she'll never notice:pac:

That was me first thought too, but I had a look and there's none of it still knockin' around. I think I may just glue it down and hope it goes unnoticed..

Then cut a square from under the bookcase/couch/tv cabinet/plant whatever - that way you'll have a surprise too in 6 months when she discovers it :)

Sure it's off out in the middle of the floor well away from anything! I'd say she'd be a bit suspicious about me plonkin' the couch into the middle of the floor for no apparent reason haha. She'll be home shortly anyway, I'm just gonna superglue it down and hope for the best. :o

Build a bunker in the corner, she'll never notice the carpet then.

Tell her that you had the back door open cause you were sweeping up and a bleedin' mouse, a mouse I tell ye, legged it across the carpet. You dropped the broom in surprise, but then the first this to hand was you trusty wedge. You chased after it and in you flurry to protect your wife's home, you took a swing and missed. Luckily you scared it enough and it legged it out the door.

You'll be a hero, and get a present of golf lessons (clearly required mind :p)

Paint a white circle around it & mark it G.U.R.

Tell her that you tripped over a bump in the carpet and somehow it managed to tear.

Ok too late as posted above.

Was the divot aiming in the direction of the target as this would give ye great feedback on your angle of attack :D:D
