Can not wait for this. I'll be trying my hardest to see how far under sub 6 I can go.
It would be great to get a few boardsies out to this and it would be a nice introduction to track racing.
More importantly for some an appropriate hour for pints :D

I'm going to give this one a lash. My last mile race didn't go as planned so I aim to rectify that!

Might even give up an IMRA night for this!

(Why can't BHAA and IMRA synchronise their calendars so that I don't have to pick and choose!!!!;))

I have just recently broke 7 minutes in trinity for the 1st time in a 3k 6:54 so I will be hoping to better that in the aviva mile,

I'll probably give this a shot also. I think my mile pb is 5.01, room for improvement there without doubt!

Looks like conditions will be ideal, no clouds, plenty of sun and no wind.

Anyone know if I run this tonight do I have to run in my BHAA standard or can i move up?

My standards is below par because I suck at cross country :)

You usually have to register under your current rating as the numbers are in batches and checked before each race, but if your not worried about league points you could signup in one of the non-bhaa members races.

Thanks man. I'm currently down as standard 10 but would expect to run 1 or 2

Will ask what's best when I get down there. I may just run the 10 and get my grade moved up for next time.

I think they only move you one at a time so it would take a while. Mention it to Paul and I'm sure he'll sort you out, you should be running in 1-6.

Well done BHAA that was really good fun tonight.Weather was perfect once you got going.

Great to see so many out to give the mile a go. It's a great distance to test the stamina against.

Are there other events like this around? I really enjoyed running the mile tonight although due to lack experience I think I could have ran faster

There's a 3k on the 10th of August same venue and time.

Great event last night, really well organized. Well done to Aviva for all the work they did, and they also matched all the money raised by entries for the Focus Ireland charity! I was happy to scrape a win in my race, especially after I fell asleep 3rd lap and let everyone back at me!

The Mile wouldn't be the most common event, having said that there are several Mile races during the year, including a few during the graded meeting (dublinathletics.com for more info if you can find it within the mess of a website that it is!), also there are one or two in Greystones during the year. A more common event is 1500 though. Track season is nearly over now.

I almost forgot, the Goal mile is on every Christmas as well.

There usually up on www.bhaa.ie within a couple of days.

Never stopped my watch either, and I forgot that the clock was started 10sec earler (for the grade6 runners in front of me), when I crossed the line I thought my time was 10sec slower then it was, was a nice surprise when my friends explained it to me ha (took me ages to cop on ha). An official time would be nice though.

Results are up on the BHAA website (and I may have a spreadsheet to upload in the morning).

Updated results on the bhaa website now.

Grade 1-6 times are still off! Has me down for 10sec quicker then I did it (not that I'm moaning about that :P). But good few of the lads behind me have times wayy slower then what they actually ran!
