Does anyone know of any companies that receive orders in America and then forward them onto addresses in Ireland, e.g. from abercrombie etc. so as to avoid high shipping costs/handling fees etc. from courirs. Ive heard that there are companies that do this, anyone know which ones are most cost effective, reliable etc.?? Thanks in advance! :)

There's this site http://www.mycousininamerica.com I've come across. Supposedly run by some ex-pats but I cannot account for its reliability. I happen to be able to use my own cousins in America for shipping!

I was about to use Shop USA to get my debs dress but after Googling it, the amount of 'scam' results/reviews put me off.

Also, customs tends to catch these parcels out more than any other. Most of the people I know who have used 3rd party sites end up paying extra taxes/charges and wind up paying more than if they had just bought it direct in the first place. We had to fork out 30 euro for one parcel despite the fact that we had already paid for taxes and delivery costs when purchasing, as it was passed from the company to a 3rd party courier (not to be confused with UPS etc, as we were told) and caught by customs.

Friends/relatives are your best bet. We used an acquaintance who got it shipped to her work place and then Fed-Ex'd it on. Cost less than 100 euro (insured and priority) with tax and shipping costs but the dress ended up being a third of the cost in the Dublin store altogether.

I have used MYUS in the past. I found them to be reliable and reasonably priced although maybe not for a one off transaction. You can request them to remove price tags etc prior to sending.
