    Hi All,

I'm currently trying to get ideas for a wedding abroad. I'm interested in Barcelona, Valencia and Italy. I'd really appreciate any info you may have on any of these three places and any advice/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks:o

Myself and my wife we married in Barcelona 3 years ago and it was fantastic.

We used http://www.catalanweddings.com/ who are a husband (Irish) and wife (Catalan) team who organise weddings in Barcelona.

Other than it is a fantastic city with a lovely culture, another big part of our decison in chossing Barcelona was that we didnt want to get legally married in Ireland first and wanted it all done on the same day in church as here in Ireland.

When we were originally enquiring about this it was not possible to get legally married in France/Italy..it would have to be done before we left in Ireland (although this might have changed)

One thing to consider is that if you are hoping to get married overseas, some people may not be able to travel and make it to your wedding. This can be difficult particularly if it is any family member.

We were lucky as almost everyone we invited came out to share the day with us however that wasn't the case with other people who did the same I have spoken with.

Anyway, congratulations and best of luck!

Thanks for that info Seany, I had a look at that website and they seem to have a good choice of locations. Would you mind telling me what type of reception venue you chose?

    Thanks again:o

    Hi Jack,

Not at all...we were married in at the military chapel at Parc de la Ciutadella which looks directly on to Catalan Parliment and boasts lovely gardens and a lake and is in close proximity to Barcelona zoo.

We were delighted with the venue we chose and still to this day our friends and family talk about it.

Full info on the venue can be found here:

    Best of luck,
    Sean
