been playing for four months and got down to a 12 handicap scoring regulary in the 80s. So decided to get a lesson to iron out the creases in my swing he changed everything tried that way couldnt get the hang of it last few days trying to go back to the old way and cant grasp it anymore too many toughts going through my head shot a 103 today :(. This happen to anyone else

Changing to make yourself better will make you worse until the changes have become natural. Keep at the changes if you want to improve.

I'd imagine if he/she was a decent pro that he knows best.Changes such as grip and other set up changes will feel strange for a while until you engrain them as a habit through loads of practice preferably away from the golf course.short term pain for long term gain..its a common enough problem even for the professionals.look at harrington

Agree with Opics. Going to be plenty of pain before you see improvement.

In my case - I've had 4 lesson's over the last 8 weeks and each lesson something new is introduced or changed. I know that in time I will start hitting every ball correctly and consistently but it's a very slow process.

That's the first time it's ever happened a golfer :D
Worse before better and all that, hopefully it'll get you into single figures... most pro's know what they're doing so keep at it

Yup what the guys said.! A golf swing has to be built and usually in a painstaking manner. You are laying the foundations now so thats probably the part that most feels like a grind. I had to do something similar earlier this season and my ball striking went arse up.! I changed a lot of aspects of my setup and swing mechanics. It was a humiliating experience. It's only coming back to me now but it's a lot better. I reckon you would be best sticking with what you were shown, it's obvious you have a natural knack for the game being so low with out formal lessons etc.. I would imagine you could go very low with the right instruction.

yeah ill stick with it just wanted to see what you guys think i got the lesson and just jumped straight back onto the course prob worst mistake ever off to the driving range to work on it tommorow and my goal is to be single figures thats why i went i used to play lots of pitch and putt when i was smaller so would say that would help with geeting a handicap like that

Stick with it Chief - not unusual to hack your way around if the changes have been substantial. Happened to me last year but was well worth it in the long run. How were you hitting it during the lesson? There must surely have been some improvement on how you were hitting it while you were there with the pro? Can't imagine he sent you off without being able to demonstrate some kind of improvement on how you were going about things?

hit a few decent ones with the pro my biggest problem is the driver leaving the clubface open on impact sounds so easy to fix

IMO thats not a conscious fix, something else is causing that (grip, alignment, tension, etc)
I dont believe you should ever consciously try to do anything with your hands in the golf swing.

Too many thoughts aren't going to help either. Either go with what the pro says or stick with where you are. Make the decision and stick with it.
