My merc 107 seems to be not running great for some reason and I'm just looking for some ideas.
It seems to be running a little unevenly and there's a definite lack of power.
I actually have two of these cars so b
y comparing it to the other one I know there's something up.
I've ordered a set of plugs there so I suppose ill try that first.
I just thought someone on here might have experience with this.
It only has 60k on the clock so the engine isn't what you'd call worn out.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Dony,

not sure where you're based, but if you're in the dublin/wicklow area, i can highly recommend Benjamin at Lichtenberg Classics.
Good idea to change plugs first and start from there

Yes Plugs but also the leads. I found that I had a issue once on my one and what a job to get to those rear plugs out and in. The SLC felt under powered at times and at a stop it would hunt a little and under power she would clear out and a generial roughness while driving. I only had the Merc a short while and decided to service it. When i bought it i was told it had a full service and the oil, filter and air filter suggested same. However when i got the rear plugs out near bulk head, I found they were never changed I guess because they are hard to get to. Well they were very old and well worn.. When i replaced them she ran really well BUT then at times the roughness came back. I then pulled off each plug lead and found two where the RPM dropped so i knew leads were to be ordered.. that evening I opened the bonnett and could see blue sparks 4 of leads were shot. Once done she ran very well, except about a week or two later she seemed under powered again not as bad as before but still, it was dirt in fuel filter. She ran perfectly after that now sold. Boy she was a thirsty beast !!!!!
Not sure if any of the above is off any help to you and are fairly basic but often it is the basic stuff!!!

    Thanks for that.
    I'll try all of that.
Whereabouts is the fuel filter on these?

Does it lack power on acceleration mostly? That would likely be a plugs/leads issues alright.

I had a 450 SL for a couple of years but I never had to change the fuel filter (thankfully) so I couldn't tell you where it is!

It lacks power throughout the rev range.
It will eventually get to any speed you want, just takes longer than usual.
Let's just say you wouldn't be spinning the rear wheels the way it is now.
I'm based around the Drogheda area.

Fuel filter is normally underneath the car, beside the fuel pump, near the fuel tank.

As already stated by others I'd suspect plugs and leads first. I'd start with plugs, they're cheap. Next check, at night (i.e. when dark), start the car and lift the bonnet. If you can see sparking you definitely need leads.

I had a 450SEL, same engine. I'd echo all the above advice. Get the simple things sorted first. Plugs, leads, distributor and rotor clean, and fuel filter!

Most of the above is worth checking however you most likely have a vacuum leak. I can test each cyl individually, based in Donabate.
