    Hi all,

I did a postgraduate course this year, ending in may, and have claimed tax back on the tuition fees. My question is how long should it take for the claim to be processed. I could really use the money as i'm only in part-time employment at the moment!

    Cheers

I'm in the same boat as yourself, applied for tax back from tuition fees I paid last year about 2 weeks ago. Had the college receipts and bank statements, but it said on the revenue website to not send them just have them in case they asked for them, I didnt send them. Got a letter back last week asking for them. So sent them off last week, and got an email from them today which I couldnt access because I forgot my PIN, They are posting another PIN code out to me now. Presuming the email will be asking for more information or something, not sure. All in all a fairly painful process so far but hopefully won't be long now.

I think it depends on if you were working when you paid it? You'd have to have paid enough tax that year before you could claim it back. I know when I was doing my degree, about ten years ago, my parents could claim tax back on my fees but I think its changed now. Feel free anyone to correct me if I'm wrong!:)

Well i was working full-time for the year before I started the course and will be working full-time again from October onwards so I'd imagine I qualify for it. Same as above poster above I didn't send the receipt for the fees originally but I did after i was asked to do so, but I have have not heard anything since.
