I'm applying for grant as a mature independant canditate, for proof you need bills from oct 2010, I have nothing from that month, but bills from july. Surely this will do?
does anyone know when to apply for back to education? I've already accepted a course. Do we wait until the course has started? Also on part 3 of bte form it asks what the end date of course, is this the end date of first year, how are we supposed to know that?!
    Thanks 4 reading

you can apply for BTEA anytime. i suggest you dont do it on signing day.

as for your bills, the july bill will help, but can you find ANYTHING with your name on it for october? do you have bills for the months after october?

for btea, the end date is the date you finish the course, so id say put down june 2013/2014 etc.

Thanks RoyalMarine for your reply, I have bills from this year aswell and have PRTB letter also from July, but nothing with October! Hopefully that will be enough?!

id say july might do, but they MIGHT want something from october - jan to prove u were still there. but the prtb letter and proof of rent payment and the bill from july and the ones from this year should suffice.
worst thing that will happen is they just ask you for something else, and you could write off to the company to whom the bill is from and they will send a letter saying you were still there but had no paper bill for that month.

In the section about course details it asks you what year your in, etc etc. I was told as you have to apply for BTEA every year (and sign back on the day after you have finished). Therefore the dates I put down were Sept 2011 - July 2012. Dont have the exact dates but you should be able to find a timetable on your university's website.

Took bills in from the summer myself but only october 2010 will do. The girl working at the council ensured that your social welfare statement, if it was going to the house your living in will do.

Oh and double check you've applied to the right department for your student grant. Website told me VEC but a different story once i got down there. Have to apply to the local council. Not the same everywhere like.

Thanks a mill Spud, I've def applied to right place cos I contacted them about that. I've recently moved house, my paperwork for documentary evidence has 3 diff addresses on them! So I put a note in additional info about it, but hopefully my sw statement will do.
