Callaway FT9 - Head Split

Was out at the range yesterday evening and brought my driver, 5,7, & 9 irons. Rarely use the driver as its normally fine when i'm playing.

Anyway (am blabbering on) had 5 balls left in the basket and took out the driver and this happened on my second shot. The club has never been abused and like the rest of my gear - i mind them well (cleaning after play, careful taking in & out of car etc) I had noticed last week that there was a "ping" out of it on my last 2 drives but never expected this.

Is there any point in going back to where i bought it? any idea can it be fixed? I only bought this FT9 last august and due to one thing or another have played very little golf in the last year.

I was always told as a young fella never to use a driver at a matted range. Now I know why :P

    depends when you bought it.....

if you bought it, if its less than 2 years old and you still have the receipt, I'd bring it back. Heck if you know the guy you bought it off, he can contact Callaway and I'd say you will probably get a new one.....

i only have it since last august in a fairly big golf shop Johnny. I have the receipt......somewhere!!

Aparently it was a common enough problem (after doing a bit of googleing) and every time they were replaced. Am going to contact place i bough it and if i have no joy i'll contact local callaway seller.

Hi, the exact same thing happened to me with a Callaway FTi, it just a split along the Sean. I sent it back to Callaway through am authorised stockist and although it took two months, they have just sent me a brand new Callaway FTiz driver.

The splitting along the seam although uncommon does seem to be a problem that Callaway are aware of. For the record my driver was three years old and I had bought it off eBay 2nd hand, but they still honoured the product, as these drivers shouldn't split like this no matter how old.

    Two months? Ah jeasuz.

I brought it back to the shop i bought it in today and they gave me the choice of picking another one there & then or sending it back. They didnt have the exact same one so i rang the pro who's giving me lessons and he said it suited me so to hold out. They are sending it back to callaway and couldnt be more helpful. They even offered me a driver on loan until i get sorted.

Fingers crossed i wont be waiting too long
