Numbers in domain names. Good or bad for SEO?

    Hi guys

Any advice on this point relating to SEO, or general un/desirability?

Specifically, if I wanted to launch a site/business selling umbrellas (for example) and 1st4Umbrellas.com was for sale for a minimal amount, would the positives outweigh the negatives? Would the fact that the domain does what it says, be outweighed by possible confusion caused by using numbers? Assuming all other usable umbrella domains are taken.

    Serious question.

    Cheers
    Max

Don't know about SEO, but I personally think it's highly unprofessional looking and almost childish.

Since the irritating txtspk usually only bastardises "connector" words and verbs, I wouldn't see it hitting SEO that much.

    Agreed.

This is something which would hurt the credibility of the site (in the eyes of your users, not the search engines) and therefore have an indirect impact on your SEO as users would be less inclined to trust and therefore use/click through/link to your site.

Text speak + hyperbole in domain names are just a big big no for credibility.
