Has anyone seen this wonderful movie from under rated Director/writer Bill Forsyth. An American oil company owned by the great and wonderful Burt Lancaster which sends a young company man (a great performance from Peter Riegert) to buy up a entire village in Scotland. But things don't go as expected. A wonderful array of characters and Camera work along with a wonderful soundtrack from Dire Straits Mark kophler lead to possibly one of the greatest british films ever.

this is a great interview with Mark kermode(which is one of his top 5 films) and Bill Forsyth about Local Hero.

I saw it via Kermode's opinion on the film. Very enjoyable to watch and the ending is brilliant and unforgettable.

It's years since I've seen it. Nice offbeat little film. Not sure I share Kermode's love of it though.

Tis a charming film in the best sense, but my God I feel old when I see Peter Capaldi as little more than a wee bairn.

I remember it for Mark Knopfler's fantastic soundtrack.
