...where would you go? K Club Palmer? Waterville? Gonna treat ourselves over the coming weeks and thinking of whats best course to hit for under 100 euro (and maybe not as far as the north of the country)

Waterville is a great option, but I would have thought it was over €100 a round there, I think its €140 for a green fee there, perhaps that has changed in the "current climate"!!!

Headfort New and Old on the same day - probably with change left over for a pint in between...

I think Carton (Monty) would also qualify. There's nothing else I can think of for less than a ton.

I think you can get the two courses down in Lahinch for 90€. Only played the Old Course a few years back and its very good and make a weekend of it and head surfing if you are into that.

I was down in Lahinch the last few days and was very jealous looking at the people out on the course! Looks great especially with the weather at the moment but looks pretty tough:)

Play the 4 person open in Mount Juliet for 60 euro it's the best park land course in the country. Not many parkland courses i would pay 100 for bar MJ maybe the Palmer at the kclub. But as someone else said u can play Headford old and new same with Carton house u may be able to play both courses there on the same day.

Is it better than Headfort New (Mt Juliet)

Personally I would prefer Headfort as its an excellent course but if your looking to spend 100€ on a parkland you have to think about Adare Manor. It was 75€ for a resident when I played there so it might well be over 100 but I would not think its too far over.

I think so. Both great courses but MJ just shades it for me it is much harder that Headford new saying that i would not pay 100 for it, once u get used to playing opens it is hard to pay a green fee played MJ and Headford new for €85 in opens. I also love Concra woods.

    Adare followed by Mount Juliet

If you haven't played Druids Glen - then this would be it for me. Unbelievable feeling about the place as soon as you enter - something special.

I have also heard that there are some great deals out there at present for less than €100. Maybe they are midweek only but - check the website.

+1 I've played all the parklands & Adare is the best in my opinion. But if it's a one-off treat then play a links like Waterville, ballybunion, lahinch or Tralee - it's always worth it.

play concra wood twice and have a big meal there as well with the change (or 3 times with open fairways or open comp). Right up there with the best parkland courses, just a bit off the beaten track.

If it was me, id opt for The Island. But it depends on where you live I suppose.

I played Druids Glen at the weekend, superb track with some jaw dropping holes. 60 with a society on saturday.

If you're looking at a links then Lahinch is one that also has some jaw dropping moments, great course and if you can get a sunny day you will be blown away by some of the ocean views down there

AFAIK it's still €125 to play. Won't be getting my cash any time soon.

i think druids glen is 40 euro every Monday in July

I'd go with Druid's Glen too - and it's easy enough for you to get to from Carlow. Rathsallagh is an option too as it's close by. If you're heading west, Adare is the star parkland, but you could give the Irish Open course (Killeen, €90) at Killarney a go and give yourself an inside view when you watch it on the box in two weeks' time.

If you want links, you'll struggle to find something under 100 on the west coast. Your best bet is Dooks (photos). I know you're not looking north, so the best value links courses in Ireland are off the menu (Rosses, Enniscrone, Carne, Murvagh) - and The Island (photos) is definitely worth a phone call (Mon - Wed early bird of 100... before 8.30am). There's Portmarnock Links, or why not try Rosslare links (photos) which is a mere €40 at weekends (and is ranked 68 in the Golf World Top 100)

    Rathsallagh is an option too

Great shout, I played there around a month ago on a deal I bought online and really enjoyed the course

You cold play the European Club on one of their Tuesday/Thursday Opens for €60. Played there a couple of Wednesday's ago and the green fee was €180 (entertaining an American client so my job picked up the tab). I put €70 on top of the green fee and now I can play there for free 3 times over the next 12 months.

Played Rathsallgh last thursday, like it there but the greens seem so slow compared to Carlow?! Really put me off, was 3 putting all over the shop, druids glen might be a go go

How does that work madds? Do they have some offer on at the moment?

killeens in killarney is no where near value at €90.........Played it last year a few weeks before Irish open last year and was very unimpressed,
    worth €50 at a stretch..

I played the Cashen course (Ballybunion) last Wednesday, beautiful day, for €65, and it was worth every penny. We played with 2 Americans (couple) who were just after playing the Old course in the morning and they said they much preferred the Cashen course.
