Anybody know what a fully restored mga coupe would be worth? I might be buying one with hardly any work to be done for €8,000,how much would i get to sell it fully restored approximately?

I'd check out www.carandclassic.co.uk for guide prices

I reckon from talking to a guy having one restored it is worth about €20k or so.

Depends how good condition, how original and how much paper work if any.

A bargain but beware of expensive bills. Funnily enough I passed one on the N11 near greystones yesterday

Ah my uncle had one years ago, everything would be original,it doesn't have wire wheels but id be getting them,i've seen ones that needed to be fully restored for 4.5k so i reckon 8k is good value for hardly any work? I think that the bodywork is just abit dull,so the hardtops are worth about 20k?

I don't know specifically about the values but 20k for a good condition original MGA would be cheapish I reckon.

Check underneath for rust and make sure its all ok mechanically. No point in ruining it by accident.

Also steel wheels are rarer and possibly more desirable than wires. But thats a matter of opinion

Do you any problems to look out for on the mga?

A good Coupe is about 20% less in value than a Roadster in similar condition. A good Roadster can be got for 15 --- 17k. Restored cars (and they must be top quality) sell for 20---25k. Unless this car is in good order and does"nt need much spending on it then walk away. Lads that are into MGAs know what to look for and are choosey. Steel Wheels, easier to maintain, balance etc. I dont know of anyone in this country that can PROPERLY balance a wire wheel.

Three main problems --- RUST --- RUST --- RUST.
Make sure the cills Inner and outer are sound. Also, on some cars, splash panels were not fitted. Chassis can be rotten and look ok. Mechanics are simple and usually bomb proof.Electrics, provided no one has messed with them are also simple enough and most problems are down to dodgy connection and bad earths. I"ve seen people spend up to 20k restoring one of these cars. A decent re-spray will cost 4k minimum.Unless you can do this work yourself then be cautious. Its extremy hard to Flip a car these days, especially if you dont know what you are doing

Everythings perfect no rust or anything the bodywork is abit dull just,my cousin does all re-spraying and everything so he'll do that and im a mechanic myself so

was given one for my 21st by my dad,a long time ago now,a great car .
i eventually stripped it including removing the chassis from the body,if memory serves me right there were a lot of bushings on the chassis that needed replacing, but ironically ,the austin cambridge had the same chassis, mine was a 1960 coupe 1600 ,not sure if a clean coupe is worth 20k but i reckon for 8k you are doing well ,provided it doesn't need too much tidying.
good luck with it,could end up being a good investment,in the long run.
