Dodgy Diesel wrecks 4 Injectors for the tune of €3000

    Well all.

Lets say you pull in to a reputable service station and fill 60L of diesel. 50miles later your at the side of the road getting AA to your local main dealer.

4 injectors later and labour etc to tune of €3000 and Main Dealer states that it was bad diesel and the Main Dealer says whatever was in the tank was not diesel and gives all the diesel they drained (does look very dodgy) in containers which the consumer has now stored.

Where does one stand re: Reputable service station footing the cost?

Also would the Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act, 1980 and product being fit for purpose apply?

And who covers a situation like this in regards making a complaint/ claiming costs?

    Cheers in advance

Can you prove that the fuel that damaged your car actually came from that filling station? Or are you just making the assumption. Is it possible that fuel from a previous filling did the damage?

Go and talk to a solicitor, it's all about proving that their diesel ruined your injectors, cleary this is the case and you have proof of it so you have a strong case.

Well lets say the vehicle was brought from new with 50K Miles of not one problem. And NCT was passed two weeks ago.

And the car was filled up from almost near empty to full approx 60L. and 50miles and €3000 later this is what happened..

Main Dealer are certain its the diesel and I tend to agree but the question I have is there a body you could complain to eg mibi etc..

Its frighting the state of the diesel that was in the tank. Also from a very well known company. And I'm no-where near the Northern border so don't think its an issue of washed diesel.

Unfortunately €3000 is not really an option

Surely there will be several vehicles with a similar problem if the diesel is that bad. Maybe ask around if you know other people that fill up in that filling station.

Buy a 5 litre can and fill it up from the same pump that was used previously. If the sample in the can is the same as what the mechanic took from the car then contact a solicitor, the gardai and customs.
