I'm heading up to this with a friend. TriAthy sprint was our first triathlon but judging from last years results this one looks to be a good bit harder (based on average finishing times anyway).

Can't wait for it either way, a tri suit has been purchased which will hopefully help avoid a 4 minute T1 again. Cost me finishing under 1:15!

Was the Athy sprint mainly a down stream swim? That could make the difference(?) I guess the best pointer would be to compare position percentage (i.e. if you finshed top 25% in Athy see what time you would need for that in Sligo).

I'm looking forward to this. I'm hoping the sea will be calm so I can get a decent swim in and then I'll take it from there. Last sprint of the season for me :D

It was 250m upstream, 500m downstream.

Judging by my place in Athy I'm hoping for below 1:27. 11 mins slower than Athy, I suppose the cycling route must include a few steeper climbs as well as the sea swim.

After this one I'm thinking of the sprint in Kilrush

did this today, weather held off, swim was tough with the wind. overall it was very enjoyable and well organised. plenty of marshals and goodie bag, food etc excellent.

I thought this was a really well organised race.

Registration was hassle free with decent t-shirts and goodie bag.

Really well marshalled on the swim with plenty of support in the sea for those who got into difficulties. The swim was tricky enough with the current/wind.

All junctions on the cycle course were well marshalled with the garda helping out at points where traffic joined the route.

Plenty of encouragement on the run route from the volunteers too.

Scenery was top notch, I am not sure there was PB potential though!

Would definitely recommend to anyone thinking of doing this next year.

Yep, the sea swim was tougher and the cycle route seemed to be a bit more undalating than Athy.

    Did you enjoy it?

I certainly did enjoy it. I found the swim very difficult, I did it in 17:30 and was wrecked coming into transition. Still slow in T1 but was happy enough with my bike and managed to knock the run down to 21:05 so was delighted.

I ended up beating my Athy time by almost 2 minutes so it was all smiles a the end...well after the initial feeling of complete exhaustion after crossing the line!

As others have said the organisation was top notch and loads of people cheering us on. I definitely think I'll be back next year.

Can anyone tell me did the guy that came in first get disqualified for arguing with a steward. Apparently the steward told him to go one way but him being local new the course and told yer man he was wrong. They had words and he got disqualified for being right. Does anyone else know if this is true?
