I live in the Lucan/Maynooth/Celbridge area and need a recommendation for a knowledgable, reliable, honest plumber.

We moved into our current house, a new build, two and a half years ago and have had endless problems with the heating since then.
The pressure in the gas boiler has fluctuated wildly despite having been 'serviced' recently.
The radiators work in rotation and only when the humour takes them despite attempts at bleeding them.
One of the on/off units in the hotpress for the dual thermostat has stopped working so it's impossible to have the heat on without turning on or off radiators.
I have had to reset the immersion myself (thanks to the help of some wonderful people on here) following the boiler service.
And to add insult to injury, some of the bleed valves have sheared off a couple of the radiators leaving us with no way to attempt to bleed them.

I have seen a couple of cowboy plumbers from the local area, including the 'registered service engineer' who serviced the boiler, all of who claimed to be professional tradesmen but yet the problems persist.

I would be eternally grateful if anyone could recommend a plumber/gas heating engineer who knows what he's doing, who keeps appointments and is not afraid to answer his phone for follow-up calls. I have seen enough cowboys at this stage to make my own horse opera so I'm desperately in need of help.

    Hi,

I can recommend a chap in Ashbourne, who has also done quite a bit of work out that direction. He won't set you wrong and is reliable. You can see his website here: <snip> Hope this helps.

Anyone else closer to home got any recommendations?

No disrespect intended to deedo but I'm not overly inclined to trust someone who's first post was to recommend a plumber who may or may not be themselves.
I'm sorry but I've too many bad experiences in the past and it has left me very wary

Please PM me if you can suggest someone honest and reliable.
    Thank you.

Sorry Mary, new to these forums (and apologies that I didn't reply by PM). You asked for a recommendation and that's what I gave in good faith. Good luck in your search to find someone reliable.

if you could be a bit more specific on the problems you are having , tell us what type of boiler you have, and problems could probaly talk you through it.

Mary, did you ever get sorted?? Really interested as we've been done by a local Plumber and need a decent one asap. Little baby and we're really feeling the cold.

    Hi

I've responded to your pm. That guy I recommended is very good, and reliable. I've also suggested some simple things you could try yourself before you call out a plumber.

    Regards

    David
