alloys dont rust, no product is going to restore wear, so what are we talking about is there a whitish deposit on them then they need to be sanded and resprayed or perhaps it just tar and break dust, wonderwheels is very good at cleaning alloys

I cleaned mine the other day..wonder wheels is great but useless for tar spots- for this I use the auto glym tar remover-it's excellent and requires very little effort.

After cleaning, I rubbed a layer of hard car wax over them, then buffed off...is this a good idea- or do I have to spend more cash on special wax for wheels? They are diamond cut wheels if it makes any difference.

Wonder Wheels will destroy normal wheels if used regularly, diamond cut wheels will corrode twice as fast as normal wheels.

Normal wax should be OK, but generally specific wheel waxes perform better.

This is what i use and i swear by it, my wheels are forged and anodised and i would not put anything else near them. A quick spray with this and little bit of elbow grease will do the trick, you can also seal your newly cleaned wheels which will protect them that bit longer.

Cleancar.ie offer a great service and are allways there for a bit of advice, plus they stock quality products and deliver very quickly, plus best of all they are Irish :D

    Just my 2cent

Alloys may not 'rust' (ferrous based) technically but they can and do corrode (white aluminium oxide) when the protective finish (lacquer/anodising) is compromised.
